This was the most important day of my life. On that night in my living room, I was reborn and became a child of God. Marshall Pridgen led both my wife, Kappi, and me to Jesus that night.
Since then the Lord has blessed my family in many ways. I have a daughter, Tiffany, who teaches school and a son, Tyler, who is in college and has been called by God to the ministry. I am most thankful that God has saved my whole family.
As a husband, a father, a deacon, and a Bible teacher, I owe all that I am to the Lord Jesus Christ. My prayer is always as Paul stated in Philippians 3:10-14.
"That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto His death,
If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect; but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. "
The Scripture says that one day we will be just like Him. I have a long way to go. But by the grace of God, I will make it. Down here on this earth I seem to always come up short. I am not the husband I need to be, not the father I need to be, and I am not the Christian I need to be.
I am clothed in the righteousness of Christ and that is His gift to me. He loves me even though I don’t measure up. His love is unconditional. Praise be to God!
